The CT Office of Rural Health (CT-ORH) is located at Northwestern Connecticut Community College, which is part of the Connecticut State Community College system. The office focuses on the promotion and enhancement of quality healthcare for rural Connecticut residents.

Representative service activities include:

  • Increasing accessibility to rural healthcare information through the use of a website, newsletters, conferences and targeted mailings
  • Providing funds for local, regional or statewide rural healthcare initiatives through an office grant program
  • Providing technical support to local, state and federal rural health initiatives
  • Assisting in the identification of rural healthcare issues and appropriate interventions
  • Assisting community, providers and/or organizations to initiate or enhance collaborative efforts to enhance the use of limited resources

The CT-ORH is funded by a federal grant from the Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources & Services Administration through the Office of Rural Health Policy.
